Freeport Man Arrested for Attempted Murder

Freeport, NY - March 17, 2014 - The First Squad reports the details of an arrest for Attempted Murder that occurred on March 17, 2014 at 5:30 AM in Freeport.
 
According to detectives, Freeport Police received a call for a female who had been stabbed. Upon arrival, police observed a 40 year old female victim standing in front of an Archer Street residence bleeding from the face and arms. The victim stated that the subject was still inside the home. After an investigation Eric W. Smith, 44, of Archer Street was placed under arrest without incident. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she is listed in stable condition.
 
Smith is being charged with Murder 2nd Degree (Attempted), Assault 1st and 2nd Degree, Unlawful Imprisonment, and 2 counts of Possession of a Dangerous a Weapon 4th Degree. He will be arraigned on March 18, 2014 at First District Court, Hempstead.
