Pedestrian Killed in Hit-and-Run Crash in Coram

Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in Coram this morning.

Abdelgheni Dakyouk was charged with leaving the scene of an incident without reporting involving a fatality.

Update: Coram, NY - March 16, 2014 - The pedestrian who was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Coram on March 14 has been tentatively identified as a 37-year-old Medford man pending positive identification by Suffolk County Police detectives and the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner. The victim’s next of kin has been notified. The investigation by Vehicular Crime Unit detectives is continuing.

Original: Coram, NY - March 14, 2015 - Suffolk County Police Vehicular Crime Unit detectives are investigating a hit-and-run crash that killed a man in Coram this morning.
 
A man was walking on Route 112 between Granny Road and Route 25 when he was struck by a vehicle that was traveling northbound at approximately 5:55 a.m. The vehicle fled the scene northbound toward Route 25.
 
The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a physician assistant from the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner.
 
The vehicle is believed to be light in color, possibly tan, with front-end damage.
 
The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash or has any information about the incident to contact the Vehicular Crime Unit at 631-852-6555 or call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
