Nassau County Marine Bureau Police Rescue Two from Center Island

Center Island, NY - March 15, 2015 - The Public Information Office reports the details of a Water Rescue that occurred on Sunday March 15, 2015 at 4:15 pm.
 
According to police, the Nassau County Police Marine Bureau received a distress call and responded to Oyster Bay Harbor just off Moses point, Center Island. Upon arrival Marin Bureau Officers located an overturned 16 foot Catamaran and two male victims ages 31 and 18 in the water. Marine Bureau officers were able to pull both victims from the water and onto the police boat.  Both victims were wearing proper floatation devices and suits. Both victims were brought safely to shore without further incident.
 
There were no injuries reported. Nassau County Marine Bureau Police were unable to secure the overturned vessel due to high winds, rough seas, and ice conditions.
 
The US Coast Guard was notified to respond.
