The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Wind Advisory...which is in effect from 4 PM this afternoon to 4 PM EST Saturday. * Locations...southeast New York...northeast New Jersey and southern Connecticut. * Hazards...strong winds. * Winds...northwest 15 to 25 mph with gusts 45 to 50 mph. * Timing...tonight into Saturday afternoon. * Impacts...the strong winds may down some tree limbs and power lines...and make driving high profile vehicles difficult...especially on elevated roadways and bridges. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph... or gusts of 46 to 57 mph...are expected or occurring. Winds this strong can make driving difficult...especially for high profile vehicles. Use extra caution. , "Special Statement" Snow showers ahead of an Arctic cold front this morning will move east across the area...briefly producing moderate to heavy snow. There is the potential for up to an inch an hour. Nassau County PD: Shots Fired in Freeport, Investigation Underway

The First Squad is investigating an incident of shots fired that occurred on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:33 p.m. in Freeport.

Freeport, NY - March 13th, 2014 - The First Squad is investigating an incident of shots fired that occurred on Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at 10:33 p.m. in Freeport.

According to detectives, Freeport Police responded to a call on East Milton Street for gunshots. Upon their arrival they discovered a bullet had struck the rear windshield of a 2003 BMW parked at a residence. There were no injuries reported.

Detectives request anyone with information regarding the above incident to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
