Woman Arrested for Leandra's Law Following Crash, 9-Year-Old Boy Injured

Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for driving under the influence of alcohol with her child in her vehicle following a motor vehicle crash in Lindenhurst last night.

Lindenhurst, NY - March 12, 2017 - Suffolk County Police have arrested a woman for driving under the influence of alcohol with her child in her vehicle following a motor vehicle crash in Lindenhurst last night.

Roxanne Simonetti was driving a 2012 Jeep Liberty North on Centre Avenue when her vehicle veered off the roadway and struck a pole. Simonetti’s 9-year-old son was in the vehicle, and suffered minor injuries. He did not go to a hospital and was released to a family member.

Simonetti, 49, of Lindenhurst, was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger 15 Years Old or Younger (Leandra’s Law), Driving While Intoxicated, and Endangering the Welfare of a Child. She is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.

A criminal charge is an accusation. A defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
