Baldwin, NY - March 9th, 2015 - The First Squad reports the details of a Vehicular Accident that occurred at 4:25am on March 8, 2015 in Baldwin.
According to Detectives, a 2008 Infiniti G35 color blue was travelling south bound on Grand Avenue, the driver lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree, a fence and ultimately struck the Second Baptist Church located at 2040 Grand Avenue. The driver fled the scene and injuries are unknown at this time.
First Squad detectives report the arrest of Sherif T. Wheeler, 21 of Kenneth Avenue, Baldwin for the above accident. A male passenger, age 20, was transported in a private vehicle to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the accident. The defendant surrendered to detectives at the First Precinct. He did not suffer any injuries.
Wheeler is charged with Leaving the Scene of an Incident with injury and Operating a Motor Vehicle by an Unlicensed Driver. The defendant was admitted to a local hospital. He was given a desk appearance ticket to appear on March 23, 2015 at First District Court.
