LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

Bobo is 1 of 3 Pointer/Hound pups that were turned into a Kentucky shelter when their owner decided to move. At just 1 year old, Bobo is a sweet pooch who is just a bit shy around strangers at first, but warms up quickly and becomes submissive around people and other dogs. As a laid-back kinda' fella, Bobo does well with low key companions, both canine and human. Bobo has the potential to be a great family dog and friend, all he needs is the right person to help him build up his confidence. For more information about adopting Bobo, check out his webpage.

Who's that 4 year old handsome Maine Coon mix you ask? Why, that's Samson. This stunning guy was found in a backyard in Plainview with a ear tip indicating he is/was feral but has been neutered. Volunteers will tell you this guy is as far from feral as they get- extremely friendly, loves to be brushed and petted, and waiting patiently for his new forever home. For more information about adopting Samson, contact Last Hope Animal Rescue today.

Available for adoption at the Town of Hempstead Animal shelter is none other than gorgeous Lexi Mama. This beautiful 4 year old tan and white gal arrived as a stray back in 2014. She was reclaimed by her owner, only to reappear in 2015. Sadly, this time, her owner didn’t come back for her. Lexi Mama is playful with toys, and displayed no issues with people near her food. She can be wary of new people, but quickly warms up and becomes quite loving.

Lexi Mama used to live with a male dog, and at the TOH Shelter she is slightly nervous meeting new dogs. She may prefer to be a solo dog, or perhaps there is a low key dog out there that wants to be her sibling. Lexi Mama would love so much to go home with a loving family today-maybe that family is yours?
