Rocky Point, NY - February 29th, 2016 - On Friday, February 26th, Suffolk County Legislator Sarah Anker joined Habitat for Humanity of Suffolk, Rocky Point VFW Post 6249, and community members at a Home Dedication Ceremony for Tommy and Sue Sullivan, a veteran family, in Rocky Point.

The home, which was rebuilt as part of the organization’s Sandy Repair Project, was destroyed by a tree during Superstorm Sandy in 2012 and took Habitat three months to rebuild with the help of many community volunteers.

“I applaud Habitat for Humanity and their 300 volunteers for their tireless dedication and compassion,” said Legislator Anker. “Without their assistance this project would not have been possible. I am inspired by their desire to help our veterans and I look forward to working together on many much needed projects in the future.”

Habitat for Humanity has built over 160 homes since 1988. They plan to expand their efforts to build 10 to 12 homes in the Suffolk county area per year. The organization’s mission is to provide every family with a comfortable, affordable place to live. For more information about Habitat for Humanity, please visit their website.
