Glen Cove, NY - February 24, 2015 - Roots Ethiopia today announced its first annual fundraiser to take place on March 21, 2015 at 7pm. The fundraiser will be hosted at North Shore Day School in Glen Cove and will feature a recent photography exhibition by renowned local photographer Lauren Werner: "Growing Minds Ethiopia".

Roots Ethiopia believes access to work and education are the foundations for building a poverty free world. They believe there should be no barriers to Ethiopian families succeeding at work and in school. Formed in response to the belief that Ethiopians know their needs best, Roots Ethiopia's work is guided by local experience and anchored by the cultural wisdom of their local partners.

"I am thrilled to exhibit my work to support such a notable cause and admirable organization," said Lauren Werner. "My experience in Ethiopia was personally transformational and I'm committed to helping raise awareness and funds for things that are fundamental to Ethiopian children through the work of Roots Ethiopia."

Attendees will witness, through pictorial, the story of a local Ethiopian child, Genet, and learn how their support of her, as well as and other bright students is growing the minds of tomorrow's leaders around the globe. In addition to the photography exhibition, the evening promises to be fun-filled with dinner, drinks, raffle items, as well as a live and silent auction.

Hosted by Jenna Freed, Katie Reasoner, and the North Shore Day School, Roots Ethiopia and Lauren Werner have created a powerful and stunning photo exhibit showcasing the incredible work of creating solutions for education in one of the world's poorest regions. Lauren's body of images stunningly express the essence of what compels Roots Ethiopia to create a better future for tomorrow's leaders.

This event adds meaningful participation in reaching across boundaries and borders to support global needs within our own communities. Supporting Roots Ethiopia provides students, just like Genet, a chance to be forces for change - in their families, in their schools, and in their communities. Funds will sow their deeply planted, strong roots and allow their minds to grow and flourish while helping them realize their dreams.
