Mineola, NY - February 26, 2015 - James Carver, president of the Nassau County Police Benevolent Association, said today the union is endorsing Steve Rhoads for Nassau County Legislator in the 19th district, in a special election to be held March 10, 2015.

“Steve Rhoads represents the best Nassau County has to offer in a legislator,” Mr. Carver said. “He has consistently supported the Nassau County Police Department and the Police Benevolent Association, beginning with his tenure as a young attorney with the Nassau County Attorney’s Office. “

“Steve is guaranteed to continue giving his full support to law-enforcement as well as to the residents of the 19th district,” Mr. Carver said. “We can think of no better candidate to stand behind than Steve Rhoads.”

Mr. Rhoads is now an attorney in private practice and lives in Bellmore. He is a life-long Nassau County resident who graduated with honors from the State University at Albany as well as from Hofstra Law School. He was Deputy Bureau Chief of the Bureau of Torts and Civil Rights Legislation in the Nassau County Attorney’s Office, which defended the County Police Department, the Nassau District Attorney’s Office and the Nassau Department of Corrections. He also serves on the Open Space and Parks Advisory Committee for the Nassau County Planning Commission.

Mr. Rhoads has been a member of the Wantagh Volunteer Fire Department for many years. The Department was recognized by Nassau County Executive Ed Mangano for its service during Superstorm Sandy.

The 19th District includes parts of Freeport, Merrick, North Merrick, Bellmore, Wantagh and Seaford. Voting ios March 10 from 6 am to 9 pm at regular polling places.
