Mastic Beach, NY - February 20th, 2014 - The Suffolk County SPCA is offering a $2,000.00 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for throwing a dog from the window of a vehicle.

Chief Roy Gross of the Suffolk SPCA said that the agency was contacted with a report that someone had committed this heinous act on Wednesday, February 18th  around 9 pm in the vicinity of the Mastic Beach Post Office.  A witness said that the dog, a friendly 3 to 4 year old male pit bull mix brindle and white, was thrown from the driver's side passenger window of a dark colored 4-door pickup truck.  After the dog hit the ground, it turned and ran toward the vehicle it was thrown from.  The witness stopped to see if the dog was okay and it jumped into the witnesses' vehicle.  The dog was stressed, suffered head trauma and had healed scars on it's face .  The dog may have been used as a bait dog in dogfighting. Also, the dog was wearing a black collar and is housebroken. The dog is under the care of a veterinarian due to the severity of it's injuries.

"This is a blatant act of Animal Cruelty and we will do everything we can to see that those responsible are apprehended," Gross said.
