NCPD: Man Arrested in Levittown for Attempted Murder

Levittown, NY - February 12th, 2014 - The Second Squad reports an arrest for Attempted Murder which occurred on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at 2:15 P.M. in Levittown.

According to detectives, Rohan J. Kahn, 58, of 1 Carter Place, was at his home when he was approached by his landlord. An argument ensued which escalated into a physical fight where Kahn pulled him into the apartment, punched the male victim, 51, in the face, kicked him.  The victim was able to run from the apartment but was followed by Kahn at which time at least five rounds were discharged from a rifle, striking two cars, on Bloomingdale Road and Carter Place.  The glass from the cars caused injuries to the face of the victim along with a second female victim, 54, who was driving on Bloomingdale Road.  When police arrived the defendant had barricaded himself in his home.  Island Trees School District was placed in lockdown.  Nassau County Emergency Services along with Bureau of Special Operations, K-9, Aviation and Hostage Negotiators were at the scene which lasted approximately two hours, ending with the defendant being placed under arrest at 4:35 P.M. with no further injuries reported.

Kahn is charged with Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), Criminal Use of a Firearm 1st degree and two counts of Reckless Endangerment 1st degree. He will be arraigned on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at First District Court in Hempstead.
