American Museum of Natural History / Rose Center
With permanent exhibitions such as the Hall of Dinosaurs, and current exhibitions such as Mysteries of the Unseen World, you’ll find lots to see and do at the Museum. The indoor Butterfly Conservatory is always a hands-on treat for children, and from Monday, February 17 until Friday, February 21 the museum offers an accompanying student program, Butterflies! It’s geared for second and third graders interested in learning all about how the fragile creatures evolved and why they are important to cultures around the world. There are other student programs such as the Power of Poison for grades 4 and 5 and Digital Universe Flight School for middle school kids. And don’t forget the Rose Center for Earth and Space that encases an 87-foot-diameter sphere that appears to float inside a glass cube which includes the Hayden Planetarium. The American Museum of Natural History/Rose Center is located on Central Park West and 79th street.
