Massapequa Man Arrested for the Attempted Murder of Two NCPD Officers

Massapequa, NY - February 1st, 2014 - The Narcotics/Vice Squad reports the arrest of a Massapequa man for the Attempted Murder of two Nassau County Police Officers that occurred on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at 8:50 p.m. in Massapequa.
 
According to detectives, the Narcotics/Vice Squad along with Bureau of Special Operations CIRRT Unit, conducted a joint narcotics investigation where the defendant Dashawn Combs, 26 of 190A, 2nd floor,  Margaretta Avenue sold Heroin and Crack Cocaine to an individual. As two officers approached the defendant’s 2012 Honda Accord with their police shields displayed and verbally identifying themselves police officers the defendant then shifted his vehicle into reverse and intentionally tried to run the officers over in an attempt to elude arrest. The officers were forced to take evasive actions to avoid being struck, at which time they discharged their weapons at the oncoming vehicle. There were no injuries reported as a result of the gun fire. Combs fled eastbound on Francine Avenue in his car. Both officers were transported to a local hospital for treatment and released.
 
A subsequent investigation, by Narcotics/Vice Bureau, Bureau of Special Operations CIRRT Unit, and 7th Squad detectives resulted in the execution of a search warrant on Friday, January 31, 2014 at the defendant’s apartment which led to the recovery of approximately 20 grams of Heroin and 10 grams of Crack Cocaine. The defendant was located on Friday, January 31, 2014 at 9:10 p.m. on Quail Run in Massapequa and placed under arrest without incident. Also placed under arrest at the time was Shantel R. Jackson 26, who also resides at 190A, 2nd floor, Margeretta Place with the defendant.
