Grand Jury Indicts Suspect in Eastport Home Invasion Homicide

A young East Moriches man has been indicted for a home invasion.

Riverhead, NY - January 30, 2014 - A 22-year-old East Moriches man charged in a fatal shooting during an Eastport home invasion in December is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow (1/30/2014) on a grand jury indictment, Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas Spota said. 
 
The indictment of Paul Batterson, Jr. will be unsealed by Judge Richard Ambro in Riverhead. The court calendar will be called at 9:30 am. 
 
Batterson was arrested ten days ago and charged with murder in the second degree. 
 
He and another person still being sought entered the house around 3:30 in the morning on December 8 and announced a robbery. Batterson allegedly shot Francisco Pirir, 45, in the face, killing him.
