SCPD Crime Alert: Couple Wanted for Scamming Brentwood Man

Brentwood, NY - January 29th, 2014 - Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Suffolk County Police Third Squad detectives are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate a couple who scammed money from a Brentwood man.  
 
A Brentwood man was shopping in a Central Islip store on November 25 when he was approached by a couple who claimed they had won the lottery and needed someone to collect their winnings because they were not US citizens. The pair persuaded the man to assist them by withdrawing nearly $29,000 from his bank accounts. The couple said the money was needed to process the winning ticket.  The pair then took the victim’s money and fled. 
 
One suspect was described as a Hispanic man, light-skinned, 35 to 40 years old, 5 feet 6 inches tall to 5 feet 8 inches tall and balding. The other suspect was described as a Hispanic female, with dark skin, 5 feet 4 inches tall with a medium to heavy build. 
 
Suffolk County Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $5,000.00 for information that leads to an arrest. Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
