Two Men Arrested in Bellmore for Weapons Possession, Marijuana

Bellmore, NY - January 27th, 2014 - The Seventh Squad reports the Arrests of two men that occurred in Bellmore on Sunday, January 26, 2014 at 9:40 P.M.

According to detectives, Seventh Precinct police officers observed Kevin Deturris, age 40 of 116 15th Avenue in West Babylon operating a 2005 Dodge northbound on Bellmore Avenue failing to stop at a stop sign and failure to signal a turn at Boundary Avenue. A Vehicle and Traffic Law stop was conducted and officers observed a marijuana pipe in the cup holder of the center console. Both Deturris and his passenger, Anthony Trentacosta, age 21 of 2800 Boundary Avenue in Bellmore were removed from the vehicle and interviewed. Defendant Deturris claimed ownership of the marijuana pipe. Police then recovered a Glock .357 handgun from the center console and a nightstick from underneath the rear passenger seat. Both men were then taken into custody and the vehicle impounded.

Both defendants were charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree. In addition defendant Deturris was charged with Unlawful Possession of Marijuana and numerous violations of the Vehicle and Traffic Law. They will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Monday, January 27, 2014.
