Trio Arrested for Using Stolen Credit Cards for Fast Food Spending Spree

Lawrence, NY - January 23rd, 2015 - The Major Case Bureau reports the details of three arrests for possession of a forged instrument which occurred in Lawrence on Thursday, 01/22/15 at 12:10 P.M.

According to detectives, Joycelyn Kumi, 19, of 141st Ave., Rosedale; Taquana Potter, 21, of Highland Pl., Yonkers; and Teshaona Peets-Butcher, 19, of California Ave., Uniondale, acting in concert, entered various restaurants in Lawrence including McDonalds, Subway and Chipolte and made purchases using fraudulent credit cards. The defendants were apprehended by Fourth Precinct police officers  who responded to a call for a fraud in progress at McDonalds, located at 365 Rockaway Tpke.

The defendants were found to be in possession of 85 fraudulent cards which had been re-encoded, plus an encoder which is used to re-encode the cards.  Defendant Potter was additionally found to be in possession of a small plastic bag containing Marijuana.

Defendant Kumi is being charged with (12) twelve counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree.  Defendant Potter is being charged with (7) seven counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree and Unlawful Possession Marijuana. 

Defendant Peets-Butcher is being charged with (5) five counts of Possession Forged Instrument 2nd Degree. All three defendants will be arraigned on Friday, 01/23/15 in First District Court, Hempstead.
