William Floyd School District Presents Parent University

Mastic Beach, NY - January 23, 2014 - The William Floyd School District in partnership with the William Floyd Community Summit are kicking off Parent University, a series of workshops designed to support the parents of William Floyd students through topics that are pertinent in a 21st century educational environment. The first workshop, “Eating Healthy on a Budget,” presented by Margaret Feeney, a Clinical Nutrition Manager at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center,  is scheduled for Thursday, January 23 at 7 pm in the William Paca Middle School auditorium.

“These workshops will provide parents with information about interesting and pertinent topics beneficial to them in helping their children navigate through ever changing learning and social environments,” said Janet Gilmor, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, William Floyd School District.

Additional workshop topics include: Building Math Skills, Cyberbullying and Gang Awareness, Reading and Writing Skills, College & Career Readiness/Post-graduation Transition Planning, Transitioning Between Grades and Schools and a Summer Resource Community Fair.

Workshops are free and open to parents of current William Floyd students. Parents are encouraged to attend all workshops or just those that are of interest to them. Please log onto www.wfsd.k12.ny.us for more information.
