The combination of low relative humidity levels and increasing northerly flow today will result in conditions favorable for the rapid spread of brush fires. Relative humidities will be lowest this afternoon...dropping into the 20s across the area. Winds will be light this morning... increasing this afternoon to 10 to 15 mph with 20 to 25 mph gusts. The risk will diminish by this evening as relative humidities increase and the winds begin to diminish. SCPD: Man Dies in Single-Car Crash

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a man in Stony Brook this morning.

Stony Brook, NY - January 23rd, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a single-car crash that killed a man in Stony Brook this morning.

Stanley Zinger was driving a 2005 Toyota Camry northbound on Nicholls Road when the vehicle went off the roadway, struck a guardrail then hit trees at approximately 7 a.m.

Zinger, 62, of Coram, was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital where he pronounced dead a short time later.

Detectives believe Zinger may have suffered a medical emergency. Sixth Squad detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed this crash to call the Sixth Squad at 631-854-8652.
