The Hazardous Weather Outlook and Winter Storm Watch for today, January 21 issued by the National Weather Service are still in effect from 12:00 PM today until 6:00 AM Wednesday morning. Additionally, a Coastal Flood Statement has been issued for tomorrow from 12:00 AM to 4:00 AM, with tidal departures around two feet above astronomical tide.

Additionally, predicted snowfall totals have increased from 4-8 inches to 8-14 inches. The snow will likely begin in the early afternoon, during which time 3-5” may drop, then continue and intensify after dark. There is a slight chance that the storm will continue until 9:00 AM Wednesday morning.

Highs today are expected to hover around 24° with a low of 13° overnight and a high of 19° tomorrow. Winds around 18 mph with gusts up to 29 mph could make it feel like -5° at times.

Though the snow has not fallen yet, some schools have already chosen to prepare for the worst. Many of those will be letting out early today, and a few have even chosen to outright close for the day. We will continue to update you as more schools decide when to close and when to open again.
