Ocean Beach, NY - February 24th, 2014 - Navigatinga fleet that now includes seven guest accommodation properties as well as CJ’s Restaurant & Bar, The Palms Hotel Group is proud to announce Karen Spollen as General Manager. Ms. Spollen brings five years of fine restaurant and catering experience to the table, as former General Manager of Surf’s Out in the neighboring Fire Island community of Kismet. In what she calls an “eclectic background” her CV also includes a successful career in the real estate business on greater Long Island, as well as presently being a Firefighter with the Kismet Volunteer Fire Department.
“The Palms Hotel has an excellent reputation and this combined with the legacy that CJ’s brings makes this an ideal fit for me. I see tremendous growth potential in the expansion of The Palms’ Venue for Catering. It is my hope to bring the level of expertise to a place where that promise can be fully realized for weddings, corporate events, or any gathering of family and friends.”
This highly driven tenacious woman has lived year-round in Kismet for the past five years and is a local Long Islander, native to Massapequa, NY. She holds a degree in Clinical Social Work from Hunter College and is the mother of two sons: Twenty-one year-old Brendan O’Halleran works in the restaurant industry, while 18 -year old Grady O’Halleran recently enlisted in the U.S. Marines and begins training this coming July. Karen is also a newly wed, having found love again with Joe Carleton within the past year.
