Selden, NY - January 16, 2014 - Suffolk County Legislator Tom Muratore (R-Ronkonkoma) has announced today that he and Brookhaven Town Councilman Kevin LaValle (R-Selden) will be sponsoring a community blood drive on Friday, February 28, 2014. The drive, held in conjunction with Long Island Blood Services, will take place at the Centereach Fire Department, located at 9 South Washington Avenue in Centereach. Donation hours are 2:30pm-7:00pm.

“I am pleased to collaborate with Councilman LaValle, my partner in Town government,” stated Legislator Muratore, “especially for such a worthwhile cause. Many people depend on life-saving blood transfusions, and this is a great way for our community to help. Please consider scheduling an appointment in advance to help us not only reach, but surpass our goal of collecting 50 pints of blood.”

Councilman LaValle commented, “It is a great pleasure to partner with County Legislator Muratore on such an important event. Every two seconds someone in America receives a blood transfusion. Five million patients will need blood this year. I encourage the residents of the Third Council District to participate in this event; you will truly be giving the gift of life to someone in need.”

If you would like to schedule an appointment, or if you have any questions, please call Legislator Tom Muratore’s office at (631) 854-9292 or Councilman LaValle’s office at (631) 451-6647.
