Bay Shore Man Arrested for Stealing from Uniondale Church

Uniondale, NY - January 17th, 2014 - The First Squad reports an arrest for Grand Larceny on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 11:40 P.M.

According to detectives, on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at 1:20 P.M. Peter J. Vignona, 53, of 34 Brook Avenue, Bay Shore, removed a solid brass tabernacle along with scrap metal from St. Pius Church located at 1220 Front Street in Uniondale, where he was working as a plumber for Traditional AC Plumbing.  The company was hired to work on the boiler in the church.  After an investigation he was located at his residence and arrested without incident.  The tabernacle was not returned.

Vignona is charged with Grand Larceny 3rd degree and Grand Larceny 4th degree.  He will be arraigned on Friday, January 17, 2014 at First District CourtN in Hempstead.
