Man Found Dead in Copiague Parking Lot - UPDATE: NCPD IDs Victim

Update: January 14th, 2014 - Elvis Canales, 27, of Copiague, has been identified as the man who was found dead in a Copiague parking lot on January 12. The investigation is continuing.

Copaigue, NY - January 13th, 2014 - Suffolk County Police Homicide Squad detectives are investigating the death of an unidentified man whose body was found in Copiague.

First Precinct police officers were called to 7 Ralph Avenue in Copiague yesterday when it was reported that the body of a man had been discovered in the parking lot at that location. When police arrived, they found the body of a man behind a dumpster. The man appeared to be the victim of violence.

The victim’s identity has not been established and he was taken to the Office of the Suffolk County Medical Examiner where an autopsy will be performed.

The investigation is continuing. Anyone with any information about this case is asked to call the Homicide Squad at 631-852-6392 or call anonymously to Suffolk County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential.
