The combination of low relative humidity levels and increasing northerly flow today will result in conditions favorable for the rapid spread of brush fires. Relative humidities will be lowest this afternoon...dropping into the 20s across the area. Winds will be light this morning... increasing this afternoon to 10 to 15 mph with 20 to 25 mph gusts. The risk will diminish by this evening as relative humidities increase and the winds begin to diminish. SCPD: Four People Arrested at Safety Checkpoint

The arrests occurred between Deer Park Avenue and Foster Boulevard in North Babylon.

North Babylon, NY - January 12, 2014 - Suffolk County Police have arrested four people during an overnight safety checkpoint operation in North Babylon.

Suffolk County Police First Precinct patrol officers, along with the Highway Patrol SAFE-T Section and Second and Third Precinct patrol officers conducted a safety checkpoint on Deer Park Road in North Babylon between the hours of 1:00 a.m. and 3:15 a.m. this morning. This operation was conducted for the prevention of injuries and fatalities associated with driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
 
The following were charged with Driving while Intoxicated:
  • Richard Bruckner, 22 of Lindenhurst
  • Dana Wisniewiski, 55, of East Islip
  • Jason Harper, 28, of Islip
The following person was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated:
  • Katelyn Clasper, 28, of West Babylon
The above individuals are scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
