Garden City, NY - January 9th, 2014 - The Nassau County Police Department reports the Arrest of a Hicksville woman that occurred in Garden City on Thursday, January 09, 2014 at 12:50 P.M.
 
According to police, Janine Lafiandra, age 36 of 41 Alling Street was operating a 2013 Mercedes Benz northbound on Main Street in Hempstead when she collided with a 2004 Ford being operated by a 66 year old male southbound on Main Street at West Columbia Street. The defendant continued northbound and was located by Garden City police officers on Franklin Avenue in Garden City. Hempstead police officers responded to the scene and an investigation determined Lafiandra was operating under the influence of drugs. Additionally the defendant’s one year old son was located in the rear seat of the vehicle. Lafiandra was taken into custody without incident and the child released to the custody of his grandmother. No injuries were reported.
 
The defendant was charged with Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated (Leandra’s Law), two counts of Driving While Ability Impaired and three counts of Aggravated Unlicensed Operation. She will be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Friday, January 10, 2014.
