Westbury Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Attacking Ex-Girlfriend

Uniondale, NY - January 8th, 2015 - The First Squad reports the arrest of a Westbury man for Attempted Murder that occurred on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at 10:15 p.m. in Uniondale.

According to detectives,  the defendant Alvin Smith, 45 of Roman Avenue approached his former girlfriend as she walked on Nassau Road and stabbed her multiple times in the neck and shoulder area with a large knife. The victim was transported to a local hospital where she was admitted for treatment of her injuries.

First Precinct Officers responded to the scene and located Smith a short time later on Hill Street and placed him under arrest. The knife was recovered at the scene. The victim has a valid order of protection against Smith.

Smith is charged with Murder 2nd degree (Attempt), Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd degree, Criminal Contempt  1st degree, and Aggravated Criminal Contempt. He will be arraigned on Thursday January 8, 2015 at First District Court in Hempstead.
