Four Arrested in Garden City for Fraudulently Selling Property

Garden City, NY - January 3rd, 2014 - Crimes Against Property Squad detectives report the arrest of four individuals for a Grand Larceny that occurred on January 2, 2014 at 11:00 am in Garden City.
 
According to detectives, Lawrence Powell, 33, of 61 W. 21st Street, Huntington, acting as the property purchaser, Juan Carlos Soto, 33, of 170 Jerome Street Apt. 2, Brooklyn, acting as the title closer, Anika Greene, 40, of 112126 E. 128th Street, New York, acting as the paralegal, and Kevin Kang, 51, of 296 S. Bicycle Path, Farmingville, acting as the property seller, arraigned the fraudulent sale of a property located at 2529B Grand Avenue, Bronx, N.Y. 
 
While inside the business office located at 310 Old Country Road, the witness and person responsible for completing the property closing for the victim, Patriot One Mortgage, issued to the defendants, escrow checks in excess of $50,000 to complete the purchase.
 
Detectives, who acquired information that this fraudulent closing was going to take place, responded to 310 Old Country Road at 12:40 pm and placed the four defendants into custody.
 
Powell, Soto, Greene and Kang are each charged with Grand Larceny 2nd Degree and will be arraigned in First District Court, Hempstead on 01/03/2014.
