For over 35 years, Friends has provided a unique partnership with the Museum Systems of the Counties of Nassau and Suffolk, creating a major educational and cultural resource for Long Island. Friends assist in the preservation of historic structures through its Landmark Preservation Program. They work with the Counties in the development of exhibits, acquisition of Museum collections, issue scholarly and popular publications, sponsor research studies, craft programs, lectures and special events. The Friends operate ten Museum stores, providing for the sale of interpretive material relating to the Museum sites.
