"Winter Storm Warning" ...Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 7 PM this evening to 6 PM EST Monday... * locations...the New York City and New Jersey metropolitan areas...northern Nassau and northwest Suffolk counties...and southeastern coastal Connecticut. * Hazard types...snow...sleet and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 2 to 5 inches...along with 1 to 2 tenths of an inch of ice. Highest snow and ice amounts will be across northern portions of the New York City and New Jersey Metro and northern portions of Long Island. * Timing...tonight through Monday. Heavy snow late tonight into early Monday morning...changing to heavy rain and/or freezing rain...then changing back to a wintry mix in the afternoon. Snowfall range could be 1 to 2 inches higher or lower based on timing of changeover in the morning. * Winds...east winds 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph in the morning. Northwest winds of 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph late Monday. * the lower 30s. * quarter mile or less at times late tonight into early Monday morning. * Snowfall rates...occasionally 1 to 2 inches per hour late Sunday night into early Monday morning. * Impacts...hazardous travel due to reduced visibilities and significant snow and ice accumulations for the early Monday morning commute. Untreated roadways will likely become icy for the Monday evening commute. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an emergency. Car Shows on Long Island

From antique and collectible to custom, exotics and muscle cars,… we’ve got street rods, slammed sleds, rice rockets and custom rides galore. Long Island LOVES their automobiles and motorcycles and has a long history of car racing and car shows. There are so many car and motorcycle aficionados on Long Island that you’ll likely pass by large groups gathered in random parking lots showing off their hot wheels and tricked out rides on any night of the week all summer long.  Most avid automobile fans know that New York City holds an annual car show at the Jacob Javitz Center in Manhattan, usually in the spring. But where are the car shows on Long Island?

There are as many different car shows for as many styles of cars all over Long Island, so buckle up, take a drive and come check out a few of these local hot spots…

Annual Car Show for Collectible Lovers

Every year the Antique Automobile Club of America est. in 1960 has an annual spring show. This is one of the oldest groups of antique automobile enthusiasts which recently became the Greater New York Region of the A.A.C.A.  It encompasses all of Long Island and New York City. This judged show is free to attend and is typically held in June.

Annual Classic Car Show

This annual show is a free event usually held in July with over 100 vehicles on display. Stop down, enjoy the live music and vote for your favorite car in the People’s Choice Awards!

Car Show & Swap Meet
“Super Swap Sunday” is held at the Bald Hill Cultural Center, Farmingville, NY usually at the end of June or beginning of July (weather permitting).  This is a huge event offering acres of classic and collectible automobiles from the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s, street cars, one of a kind customs, exotics and imports, muscle cars and street rods. There are 50 classes, impressive trophies and hundreds of vendors. You can trade, sell, buy or swap car parts and check out cars for sale by owners.

Informal Car Shows
Bald Hill Cultural Center, Farmingville is one of Long Island’s biggest weekly car hang outs. On any given Tuesday all summer long, anywhere from 500 to 1000 owners stop by and hang out in good company! All styles are welcome… from exotics, old school muscle cars and classic cars to tricked out street rods.

The Bellmore Train Station and the shopping center parking lot in Oakdale (800 Montauk Hwy, Oakdale, NY) has long been a meeting spot of car lovers for decades, every Friday evening all summer long. This is always free of charge, informal and open to all. Stop on down and check out those sweet rides!
