Shark and Fishing Camp is a 5-day sleep-away camp for 6th-12th grade youth. At this sleep-away camp, your kids get top-notch Marine Biology field training by world-renown shark biologist and Discovery Channel Shark Week Star, Dr. Craig O’Connell. Each week, campers will catch, measure, and tag sharks along Long Island’s Southern Coast aboard the 26’ Glacier Bay research vessel.

In addition, campers will participate in new ground-breaking shark research, fish for shark bait, learn valuable GPS and boat navigation/handling skills, learn about local aquatic and avian wildlife, photograph humpback whales, and to top it all off, swim with sharks at the Long Island Aquarium. At the end of this all-inclusive camp experience, campers will be given photographs and videos of their adventures and will leave with a new respect and knowledge for our beautiful ocean.

I was always into sharks, and my parents told me I was going to the O'seas Shark Camp and I was ecstatic. I was so excited to go meet the crew and have a fun day of fishing and shark research. I did have some questions for Captain Craig O'Connell. He was very enthusiastic and happy to answer my questions. I had always been a little nervous on boats, but Captain O'Connell showed me all of the safety features on his boat. He was well prepared and he cared about the people on his boat. During the day we saw dolphins swimming, two amazing humpback whales, and we saw a 9' mako shark. Also A real treat happened when we went a little further out, we spotted a mahi- mahi. finally the fishing was so much fun!! I had reeled in some fluke and black sea bass, so mush fun. It was one of the best days of my life, Captain Craig O'Connell was so helpful, fun, and caring about his guests on his boat. I will be definitely going out this summer and having more fun with the O'seas Shark Camp.

I never knew a camp like this existed until my mom and dad surprised me by allowing me to go out with Captain Craig O'C and the O’Seas crew. It was such an awesome experience to see and catch so many animals. I caught my first fish and got to help measure all the sharks and stingrays. We even got to see a dolphin swim by the boat. It was the BEST day of my life! I can’t wait till next summer!
