Founded by Co-Directors Erica Ascher and Brooke Robyn Dairman, the Professional Youth Theater was established in 2014 to bring a much-needed opportunity for theater education to students on Long Island. PYT prides itself on being the area's first musical theater training program run exclusively by trained professionals from the NYC performing arts community.
The goal of PYT is to inspire young actors with its outstanding programming and cultivate their skills to make well-rounded performers. The theater offers year-round training in dance, vocal performance, and acting technique, and each program culminates in a thrilling cabaret performance showcasing what students have learned.
In addition to their regular programs, the Professional Youth Theater also offers special summer camps, providing students the opportunity to take advantage of their time off from school to hone their acting skills. These summer classes help students to improve their dancing, acting, and singing, and at the end of the summer they will put on a full-length musical. Throughout the summer Broadway guest artists will be invited to work with students, as will a top NYC casting director and agent.
