The Long Island Marathon is an annual marathon foot-race. Runners begin on Charles Lindbergh Boulevard in Uniondale and finish at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow, with part of the course running along Wantagh State Parkway.The first marathon took place in 1970 and was called The Earth Day Marathon but was renamed in 1978. A year later Lou Calcano set the LI Marathon record of 2:19:53 and in 1984 a half marathon was introduced.

The next marathon will be held on Sunday, May 6, 2012 at 8am.
