Since 1950, The Gateway has become Long Island’s home for Broadway-quality entertainment. What was once one of the top ten summer theatres (Robert Duvall & Gene Hackman began their careers here!) has now expanded to include a five-show Summer season of musicals, a summer Children’s Theatre series, a winter Holiday season – plus special events throughout the year.

Shows are presented at the 500-seat Gateway Playhouse in Bellport and at the 1200-seat Patchogue Theatre. Additionally, over 300 students each year – from Montauk to Manhattan – receive professional-level training at The Gateway Acting School.

My daughter has done several of their acting classes, and has come so far! She's very talented, and I'm so glad we found her this opportunity to really get out there and shine, and learn from amazing professionals. It's much better than anything she gets through her school's drama program.

I discovered this wonderful place thanks to my boyfriend, who brought me here for our first date! I never was really into theater that much before, but after one performance here, I was sold. We've been back again and again since then, and I always look forward to seeing the playbill.

I've taken my son to a couple of the kids' shows here and he has loved them! I also had a wonderful time. If you have a child who enjoys theater and are looking for a fun and special activity to do together, the Gateway Playhouse always has something on for children.

We brought our children here to watch A Christmas Carol last year, and it was one of the best activities we can remember ever doing as a family to celebrate the holidays. All year our kids have been begging us to take them back this year, which is exactly what we are going to do. Hopefully we can take in a play this summer too since my hours are shorter right now and we have more time to get out. If you love live theater, check this place out!
