The LongIsland.com Best Pizza on Long Island Contest
was an ABSOLUTELY AMAZING SUCCESS!
Pizzerias across Long Island competed for the chance to
be judged the BEST PIZZA on LI. Voting was set up on the
Web site where visitors could vote for their favorite pizza.
We tallied the votes and invited the top pizzerias in each
category to join us for a pizza bake-off and festival.
The LongIsland.com Pizza Festival 2002 took place on the
weekend of Oct. 5 & 6, 2002 at Adventureland in Farmingdale.
There was pizza related activities including pizza making, pie
tossing, pizza sampling, pizza judging, a charity raffle, rides,
games and attractions.
A panel of Celebrity Judges taste tested pizza to determine
the best in each category. Celebrity Judges included:
- Tony & Tina from the Off-Broadway Hit Tony N' Tina's Wedding
- Bud Harrelson The Greatest Shortstop in the history of the
New York Mets and co-owner of the Long Island Ducks

The kids were able to partake in demonstrations on how to make their
own pepperoni rolls and mini-pizzas including rolling out the dough and
selecting toppings. Pizzeria owners donated their time, expertise and
supplies to make this the biggest pizza event on Long Island.
