As you prepare to turn down Lakeview Avenue towards the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Holiday Light Show you’ll see plenty of signs that you are in the right place. From the flashing lights to traffic control and security, this holiday light show is making sure everyone is safe and ready to have a great time. When you first turn in you’ll pass through security. They’ll check your tickets and then you’ll be directed down the road to the entrance. Right before you go in the friendly event staff will scan your ticket and you can proceed to the show. Don’t forget to tune the radio to channel 89.3FM for Christmas music to go along with your journey through the dazzling light displays.

The different displays, and the amount of them, on this mile long trail are amazing. You’ll be looking out of both sides of your car constantly to catch a good look at all of the different detailed displays. There’s some serious spectacles like the great ship display where it looks like the ship is moving on the water and shooting out cannons, the huge medieval castle with fireworks going off in the background and the George Washington Bridge with the New York City skyline in the background. You’ll see lots of familiar faces too! Santa Claus makes a few appearances, Rudolph and his friends pop up too, along with characters from the classic Claymation Christmas specials that air every year without fail on ABC Family.

Even without the Holiday Village, which could not happen this year because of the terms granted by the Town of Islip, the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County Holiday Light Show was a grand slam. It’s a great holiday treat that you can do with the whole family, with a bunch of friends or just one night when you’re feeling in the holiday spirit. The proceeds from the show go to benefit workshops and programs in STEM, Financial Literacy, Anti-Bullying, Health & Fitness, helps maintain camp properties and provides financial aid to families in need.

Beware too if you’re using Google Maps because if you just type in Camp Edey as your destination it will take you down the wrong road. Just keep going until your hit Lakeview Avenue, there are signs, people and flares marking where to enter. And don’t forget as you leave to turn back on your headlights!

If you’d like to go and check out the Girl Scouts of Suffolk County be sure to purchase your tickets online here. Tickets can only be bought online since you have to choose a time slot on whichever day you’d like to go. Then just show up in between the chosen time span on the day and you’re free to start your trek into the bright and beautiful holiday light display.

This year the holiday light display will be up from December 12th thru December 21st. Admission, and that’s per car load, is $15 Monday thru Thursday and $20 per carload Friday thru Sunday.
