Duffy is one of many animals in need of a home this holiday season.

LI's Adorable Adoptables is a weekly column by Allison Matos, a lifelong Long Island resident who has been advocating animal adoption since 2012. Allison's weekly posts highlight local animals in need of adoption, and cover general animal welfare topics as well.

This week it is my pleasure to introduce you to Duffy.  Duffy is a handsome 8 year old American Bulldog who was surrendered to the Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter because of landlord issues. Duffy is a gorgeously stunning, 105 pound boy who is described as being very sweet and a super mush once he gets to know you. To top things off, Duffy is even house broken! Duffy is friendly and social with dogs of his size, but isn’t comfortable with little dogs and cats. Duffy is a volunteer favorite, and if big, handsome, sweet dogs are your thing, Duffy is your perfect match! Please contact the shelter to meet him or call for more information: Town of Hempstead Animal Shelter - 3320 Beltagh Ave - Wantagh NY 11793. 516-785-5220.

Duffy certainly isn’t the only animal in need of a home this holiday season- please remember, if you can’t adopt, volunteer. If you can’t volunteer, donate.  Any little bit helps the Long Island animals in need.

Thank you for reading and please remember to always adopt, never shop!
