Officials: Homeless Man Charged With Robbery of Hempstead Gas Station Employee

Hempstead, NY - September 19, 2017 - The Third Squad reports the arrest of a homeless man from Hempstead for Robbery that occurred on Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 1:06 am.
 
According to detectives, an unknown male subject approached a 47 year old employee at the Gulf Gas Station located at 2 Old Country Road and demanded cash and his wallet. The subject motioned with his hand in his pocket that he had a gun. The victim complied and handed over his wallet, an undetermined amount of US currency, and an iPhone. The subject then fled on foot south on Maple Street. There were no injuries reported.
 
On Monday, September 18, 2017 detectives located the defendant Dakota E. Stafford, no known address, at the First District Court in Hempstead and placed him into police custody. Stafford was in court for an unrelated charge that occurred in Freeport. Dakota E. Stafford is charged with Robbery 1st Degree. He will be arraigned on Tuesday, September 19, 2017 in First District Court in Hempstead.
