In memory of those lost on 9/11, take part in the various memorial ceremonies taking place on Long Island! There’s also a special digital art exhibit to enjoy at Art League of Long Island and various film screenings, including Mannequin, Don Carlo and Mud. Our Lady Of Lourdes Church Italian Feast also takes place through Sept. 15. Check out the details below!

MONDAY – SEPTEMBER 9, 2013

Who: SparkBoom Digital Art Exhibit At Art League of Long Island
Info: Enjoy an exhibition of digital art. The exhibit runs through Oct. 7.
Cost: Free Event

Who: Oyster Bay 9-11 Memorial Ceremony
Info: This memorial ceremony will take place on the bayside of Tobay Beach, a direct line to where the Twin Towers once stood. A memorial monument is also inscribed with the names of Town of Oyster Bay residents who lost their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The memorial also features a steel beam recovered from the World Trade Center. The event includes a candlelight vigil, vocal performances, bagpipe music and religious readings. The names of those lost will also be read.

TUESDAY – SEPTEMBER 10, 2013

Who: Mannequin Playing At The Patio, Freeport Inn & Marina
Info: It’s a movie night at The Patio. Enjoy a screening of the 1987 film Mannequin, starring Andrew McCarthy and Kim Cattrall.
Cost: Free For Customers

Who: Don Carlo Playing At Plaza Cinema & Media Arts Center
Info: It’s Verdi’s ultimate drama starring opera greats Ferruccio Furlanetto, Stuart Neill, Fiorenza Cedolins, and Dolora Zajick. The film is sung in Italian with English subtitles.
Cost: $20, $15 For Students

Who:  Commemorative Presentation Of 9/11 Sculpture At Pratt Park
Info: The Glen Cove Chamber of Commerce is dedicating the Commemorative Presentation of 9/11 Sculpture to the Glen Cove Firefighters. The event is held adjacent to the fire house.

Who: The Common Ground Memorial Service
Info: This memorial gathering will honor the lives lost on that tragic day. The schedule of events include Pastor Gary Brinn, vocalist Michelle O’Keefe, Sean Barry on bagpipes, musical group The Reflections, vocalist Rick Magnani, St. Ann’s Choir and Labyrinth Walk. Bring your own chair for seating comfort.

THURSDAY – SEPTEMBER 12, 2013

Who: Mud Showing At Connetquot Public Library
Info:  Enjoy a screening of the 2012 film with Matthew McConaughey. It tells the story of two young boys encountering a fugitive and forming a pact to help him evade the bounty hunters on his trail and to reunite him with his true love.
