Car shows are the perfect opportunity to jump into autumn - cool nights outside, meeting like-minded car enthusiasts, and taking rides across Long Island to enjoy the foliage and take part in car show competitions.  This September, many car shows and cruise nights are free for spectators, and some are even free to join and show your ride, but be sure that your ride fits in the parameters of the event, especially if only certain years or styles are allowed to compete or be shown.  Be sure to bring the camera and stop by these great events!

Oyster Bay Tuesday Cruise Nights (Free)

Audrey Avenue will be closed off to host a variety of classic cars and motorcycles, so be sure to come early to find parking nearby, and to enjoy delicious food at the nearby restaurants that will be open.  This show is free for spectators, and only costs $5 per person to enter your ride in the show.

Wednesday Night Cruise In Garden City Park (Free)

Every Wednesday in September, 6:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.

Every Wednesday night, head down to the King Kullen shopping center near Citibank to check out some sweet new and restored vehicles and meet with other car enthusiasts.

Wednesday Night Car Cruise in Ronkonkoma (Free)

Every Wednesday in September

Take a ride just one mile north of the LIE from exit 60 to Hawkins Avenue, where you can spot antique and classic cars.  It is free to show your own car, so feel free to jump in on the fun.  There will also be many activities for the entire family, so bring the kids!

New York AutoFest Midsummer Nights Dream Cruise (Free)

Each Friday night, head to the beach to check out cool cars for free, or show your own vehicle for $5 with the chance to win the weekly award for Best in Cruise vehicle.

Car Show and Swap Meet

Take a look at cars through the decades with these rides from the 50s, 60s, and 70s, including muscle cars, hot rods, exotic cars, antique cars, and imports.  There will be something for everyone, and there will also be food, refreshments, and entertainment.

Classic Car Show (Free)

This car show, which is run by the Long Island Sound Classic Car Club takes classic seriously – the only cars or trucks you will see will be from before 1949.  The show will be free for spectators, and in the event of rain, it will be held on September 14th.

Long Island Cruzin’ For A Cure

Cruzin’ For A Cure is a massive car show that promotes prostate cancer awareness, and includes family-friendly activities, games, and vendors.  Over 600 cars and trucks will be shown, and more than 3,000 people are expected to attend the event, so be sure to come early!

Fire Department Car Show

If you are the competitive kind, join in on this car show, which will feature 13 different classes. Judges will distribute 64 trophies for all different categories of vehicles, so head down and see who will win!

Big Rig Truck Show and Fall Festival

Big rig fans rejoice – the largest big rig truck show will hit Long Island at the end of the month, and will feature over 200 heavy duty trucks, pickups, haulers, custom-made trucks, cars, and bikes.  There will also be fun for the whole family in the form of monster truck rides, face painting, bounce houses, magic shows, and lots and lots of food.

The Jaguar Drivers Club of Long Island and the MG Car Club-Long Island Centre will be hosting a classy classic car show on the great lawn at the Vanderbilt Museum featuring over 100 elegant vehicles. Long Island Cares will have a booth at the event and will welcome donations of food items.
