The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow...which is in effect from 6 PM this evening to noon EST Wednesday. * Locations...New York City...adjacent portions of northeast New Jersey...and Long Island. * Hazard types...snow. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 3 to 5 inches. * Temperatures...in the lower 30s. * Visibilities...one half mile at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads and limited visibilities...and use caution while driving. , "Coastal Flood Advisory" ...Coastal Flood Advisory now in effect from 11 PM this evening to 2 am EST Wednesday... ...Coastal Flood Advisory will expire at 1 PM EST this afternoon... * locations...coastal locations along Long Island Sound. * Tidal departures...2 to 2 1/2 feet above astronomical tides this morning. 1 to 1 1/2 feet above astronomical tides tonight. * Timing...water levels have peaked this afternoon...and will begin to decrease. Additional minor coastal flooding is expected for tonight and possible for Wednesday mornings high tide cycles. * Coastal flood impacts...minor flooding of the most vulnerable shore roads and/or properties due to height of storm tide or wave splashover. Majority of roads remain passable with only isolated closures. Any impact on property is minimal. Precautionary/preparedness actions...
