August is National Golf Month and with over 100 public and private courses to choose from, Long Island is a bonafide golfers haven. From prestigious courses like the Bethpage Black Course, to smaller courses like Heatherwood, there are courses fit for every type and level of player. Whether you’re looking to get in a full, 18-hole round of golf, looking to start up golfing lessons, or simply want to work on your golf swing at the driving range, there are plenty of courses to pick from around the Island to fulfil your golfing needs.

Bethpage State Park Golf Courses

One of the most popular golf destinations on Long Island, and host of multiple U.S. Opens & Barclays Tournaments, the Bethpage State Park Golf Course is home to five 18-hole regulation golf courses, the most difficult of the five being the world renowned Bethpage Black Course.
 
Eisenhower Park Golf Courses

Eisenhower park houses three 18-hole golf courses, the Red, White & Blue courses. The Red Course is open March/April - December, weather permitting, and the Blue & White Courses are open year round, with weather permitting.
 
Heatherwood Golf Club

Open year-round, this public golf course located on 85 acres features a beautiful 18-hole, 60 par course. TJ Halpins, their on-site bar/grill is also open year round serving up burgers, beers and more for hungry golfers.
 
Mill Pond Golf & Catering

Located in Medford, the Mill Pond Golf Course is an 18-hole championship golf course sitting on 200 acres of scenic course with a pro shop that is open 7 days a week. Mill Pond Golf also offers golf instruction and a driving range.
 
Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course

Situated on the Eastern tip of Long Island's South Fork, the Montauk Downs State Park Golf Course is a challenging par 72 18-hole course. Be prepared for plenty of bunkers!
 
Pine Hills Country Club

Make your way out to rural Long Island to play this Par 73, 165 acre course nestled in Long Island's Pine Barrens region. Amenities include a practice bunker and a practice green.
 
Spring Lake Golf Club

Located on 180 acres, Spring Lake Golf Club offers golfers two courses to choose from when they come to play, The Thunderbird and The Sandpiper. The Thunderbird is an 18-hole course sprawling 7,048 yards long while The Sandpiper is a Par 36, 9-hole course.
