Looking Forward: Fall Wedding Trends for 2013!

Written by Lauren Pozmanter  |  12. July 2013

As summer is getting into swing, those brides who are eagerly awaiting their fall weddings are in a planning mania. So what exactly should you be looking to incorporate into your fall wedding? The trends are endless this year, focusing on a very romantic secret garden type of affair. This means the freshest flowers, floral adornments and lots of lace! We are taking a leave from the complete vintage look but keeping some of the best parts to stay in the dresses, while making more bold choices when it comes to décor! Check out these trends that will take the wedding world by storm this fall!

Flowers: Every year sees a different type of flower take center stage in bridal bouquets and décor. This year, that flower is without a doubt the peony. Peonies encompass that romantic freshly picked flower look that wedding planners are going crazy for this year. You will also see wildflowers making a bigger presence. The goal is to look like you just picked flowers from a grand estate or palace garden. But make sure to stay away from the overgrown weedy looking flowers; those are so last year!

Dress: The dresses this fall are going to seem very similar to a certain dress that adorned a princess as she walked down the aisle in 2011. The sleeves are here to stay folks, and you’ll see them more than ever this year! Make sure to get a nice lace sleeve, you can even show a little back for something more flirtatious. Also look to high lace necks, and definitely peplum, one of the years hottest fashion crazes. To keep in with the romantic setting, flower adornments on the dress are definitely hot right now, especially if they are in lace. Add some bling and your dress will be all the rage!

Food and Drink: This year marks a return to the formal side of things when it comes to the wedding meals. Definitely have a sit down affair with plated dinners and golden silverware. In the fall, this will have a lovely effect with the bright colors of the season! Going local is still a huge trend right now so try and infuse some of your best local ingredients and caterers into your meal to give your guests a taste of home! Add a little bit of your favorite Gatsby style glasses for the cocktails and plating. As far as drinks go, martini bars are a total snooze this year, be creative with your cocktails! Champagne bars are all the rage right now, infused with your favorite flavors!

Wedding Cake: This year is all about flavor! For the fall, think about adding a little bit of your favorite fall fillings to give your cake an unexpected pop! You can do this on one layer of the cake or the whole thing. Again going local, think about your favorite pie fillings such as peach or raspberry and see what your bakery can do! As far as décor you can be on opposite ends of the spectrum- but you have to go all the way! Either keep the cake clean and simple with a single pop out feature such as a flower fixture or go crazy with color!
