Bariann’s weekly posts highlight the League’s amazing animals, just a small example of the thousands of loving, loyal pets waiting for forever homes at your local animal shelter.

Martha is a 3-year-old Corgi/Terrier mix from Alabama. This gentle pup greets everyone with a wagging tail and smile. She adores children of all ages and will be the perfect family pet. Martha would like to meet any potential canine companions at our adoption center before the adoption is official.

This adorable girl is currently heartworm positive, but undergoing treatment, so she is part of our Foster To Adopt Program. Martha’s adoption number is R161262. Please email cindys@animalleague.org to learn more about her!

Meet Cynthia! This gorgeous Lab/Pit mix just turned 10, and our staff absolutely adores her. She has the unique ability to look fantastic in bandanas of every color and her eyes will melt your heart.

One of the many great things about a senior dog like Cynthia is she is housebroken and knows her basic commands. This beautiful lady deserves a home where she will be loved and cherished at the center of attention. She will do best with children over 12 and as the only four-legged member of the family. This lady is just as cute as a puppy and just as playful and fun-loving! Cynthia's adoption number is R104881.

Josie knows how to strike a pose for the camera! But don't let this diva fool you, she's a really sweet and calm girl, who loves a head scratch or two. The sweet 10-month old kitty is super affectionate and great with children of all ages. Looking at her, you’d never know that Josie is FIV+, a manageable condition, which you can learn more about here. Josie’s adoption number is H206577.

Thurman was adopted from North Shore Animal League America as a puppy and unfortunately brought back due to the child in the home developing severe allergies. As you can imagine, it's been a hard adjustment for him. This  8-year old male Lab mix resides in one of our offices here at Animal League America where he is spoiled on a daily basis, but that doesn’t mean he’s not patiently awaiting a new home to call his own. He is shy at first, but warms up quickly and would do best with children 12 or above, and would like to meet any potential canine companions at our adoption center first. Thurman enjoys being petted and will rest his head on your lap to show affection! Thurman's adoption number is T63886.

Martha, Cynthia, Josie, and Thurman are all waiting for their forever homes at our adoption center in Port Washington.
