The National Weather Service in New York has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow and freezing rain...which is in effect from 3 PM Tuesday to 2 am EST Wednesday. * Locations...New York City...Nassau and western Suffolk County...as well as Union...Essex and Hudson counties... * hazard types...snow and freezing rain. * Accumulations...snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches...along with a trace to a few hundredths of an inch of ice. * Temperatures...starting in the mid to upper 20s Tuesday afternoon...then slowly rising into the lower 30s to mid 30s late Tuesday night. * Timing...snow develops late Tuesday afternoon...then mixes with sleet and freezing rain Tuesday evening before changing to freezing rain by midnight...then to plain rain late at night. * Impacts...snow covered surfaces...coated with ice...will make traveling difficult at times. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of snow...sleet...or freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Go Skateboarding Day is June 21st! Do You Know Where to Skateboard?

It is the 10th year of Go Skateboarding Day and have you gone skateboarding? Many young and old love the skateboard, but it is not ...

The International Association of Skateboard Companies are celebrating a milestone in the skateboarding community. It is their 10th Annual Go Skareboarding Day on June 21st. The goal of this day is to get people out of their homes and making skateboarding a priority for one day.

When it comes to Long Island, there is definitely various groups of individuals who enjoy skateboarding. You will see them everywhere now that summer is here and school is out. 

If you are a skateboarder, there are some important rules you have to follow. If you are under the age of 14 using a skateboard in Nassau County, you must wear a helmet. If you do not, the parent or guardian will be fined $50. In Suffolk County, if you are under the age of 17, you must wear a helmet or violators will be fined $50. Wearing a helmet is for your protection because head injuries are very dangerous and sometimes deadly. A helmet might very well save your life.
