ROUGH RIDERS GAME RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 14th

Rainout on June 7th has Western Mass returning to Stony Brook University

The rainy weather seems to have put a damper on the Long Island Rough Riders game schedule. The professional soccer team has kept moral and competitive spirit high, offering a ray of sunshine for soccer fans across Long Island, New York.

The Long Island Rough Riders, members of professional soccer's USL 2nd Division, have announced that they will make up this past Wednesday (June 7th) rain-out on June 14, 2006. The game against the Western Mass Pioneers will kick off at 7:30pm at Stony Brook University's Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium. Tickets sold for the original June 7th date will be honored at the gate on June 14th.

The stormy weather has put added pressure on the Rough Riders already tight schedule. With the change, the team will play 5 games in the next two weeks. Long Island will first have a home game this Saturday against the Wilmington Hammerheads. Kick off at Mitchel Athletic Complex in Uniondale is set for 7:30pm. The two teams have not faced each other yet this season. Last year, the Rough Riders split their home-and-home series with the Hammerheads, losing 1-2 on the road before coming home to win by the identical 2-1 score. Forward Moussa Sy scored both goals to aide in the victory and earned USL D2 "Team of the Week" honors.

The Long Island Rough Riders, members of the United Soccer Leagues (USL) 2nd Division, play a 20-game regular season schedule. After playing at Stony Brook on the June 14th, the Rough Riders will be on the road for their next two games to play the Western Mass Pioneers (June 17th) and the New Hampshire Phantoms (June 21st). The Rough Riders return to Mitchel Athletic Complex on Saturday-June 24th, when they will host the Harrisburg City Islanders.
