Who: Save-a-Pet Animal Rescue and Adoption Center, Rick Caran and "Team Jilli Dog"

What: The 12th Annual Hounds on the Sound 3K Dog Walk and Adoption Event will take place. Vendors, food, live music, raffles and contests will keep everyone entertained. In addition, special guest, Rick Caran and "Team Jilli Dog" will present a dog trick show and seminar. Jilli Dog, a five-pound Yorkie, is known as the world's only poker-playing dog. She was rescued from the streets more than 10 years ago. When Mr. Caran found her, she was very sick. After nursing her back to health, he began a lifestyle of fun trick training, and she became one of the most popular and talented trick dogs in the world.

When: Sunday, June 12 from 10am - 3pm
(Please note: This is a rain-or-shine event.)
· 10 a.m. - Dogs and their owners begin check-in and receive a bag filled with goodies.
· 11 a.m. - The walk begins.
· 11:30 a.m. - Festivities begin. Games, Food Vendors, various demonstrations.
· 1:00 p.m. - Contests begin. Biggest Dog, Smallest Dog, Best Trick, and Best Costume, Owner/Dog Look-a-like.
· 2:00 p.m. - Canine Fashion Show. Fashions by Fetch, Doggy Boutique and Bakery.

Where: Port Jefferson Harbor Memorial Park, Route 25A in Port Jefferson.

Directions: Long Island Expressway eastbound to Exit 64 (Rte. 112) North to Port Jefferson. Make a left on Route 112. After the train tracks, Rte. 112 becomes Rte. 25A. Take Rte. 25A to the end, then make a left. The park is on the right-hand side, across the street from Port Jefferson Village Hall.

Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue Inc. was established in 1994 and is located in Port Jefferson Station. Save-A-Pet works with The Town of Brookhaven Animal Shelter, to place homeless animals into new homes with loving families. All of the animals that come to Save-A-Pet are spayed, neutered, tested for diseases and vaccinated. Prospective adopters are thoroughly screened and matched with the most suitable pet for them and their family. Save-A-Pet Animal Rescue is a non-profit, no-kill shelter and is a safe haven for all of the animals that enter it.
