Centereach Has a Blast During the Town’s Second Annual Fair

Written by Christian Abbatecola  |  09. June 2014

The weather might be cool and rainy today, but the sun and warm air held out for the Second Annual Centereach Fair on Sunday. After a successful first street festival last spring attracted thousands of Long Islanders, the Centereach Civic Association and Middle Country Chamber of Commerce put together an even bigger show for 2014.

Two stages at either end of Mark Tree Road filled the festival with live music throughout the day as local bands performed under a tent, and young singers and a school band entertained the crowd as well. Bounce houses and a giant inflatable slide entertained children while their parents were able to enjoy the nearby music tent. A giant bowling pin mascot and Tigger were also there, to the delight of many kids.

Craft vendors, food trucks, local businesses, and community organizations lined the crowd providing plenty of things to do and treats to buy for all who came, and there were even a few healthier snack options like roasted corn on the cob.

Many attendees brought their dogs along to take part in the fun, and one even brought his parrot to the delight of the crowd. A local pet store also brought a number of reptiles, including an iguana who was happy to be carried up and down the fair, and there were pet charities looking to find a new home for animals in need as well. A Home Fur Now drew a large crowd for much of the day as they raised both awareness and donations.

As pleasant spring weather made for a wonderful festival, there can be little doubt that the Third Annual Centereach Fair will be just as fun next year.
