NY Heroes Program
A Token of Appreciation for Those Who Gave Everything
The goal of the NY Heroes Program is to give back to those that have served our country and our community by connecting them with local businesses that offer discounts and special pricing as a "thank you" for their service. What is a Hero? A Hero is someone who is active or has served in the Military, Police Force, Fire Department, and also includes Doctors and Teachers - the people who make up the backbone of our community and help to keep us safe, healthy, and educated. Founded by Annemarie Portaro and Jennifer Lien, both of whom have family that has been a part of the Police Force - these two women have truly taken to heart what it means to serve, and have put together a wonderful service to connect Local Heroes with tokens of gratitude from businesses throughout the community.

Hot Off the Presses
Your Guide to Planning a Spectauclar Memorial Day on LI
Memorial Day is Monday, May 28th. Originally called Decoration Day, the holiday honors members of the military who died in service to their country. Memorial Day was officially proclaimed on May 5, 1868 by General John Logan, national commander of the Grand Army of the Republic and was first observed on May 30, 1868, when flowers were placed on the graves of Union and Confederate soldiers at Arlington National Cemetery. The first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. Memorial Day also marks the unofficial beginning of summer, and Long Island is loaded with fun and exciting events for the whole family. Here’s a helpful guide to planning your weekend. Enjoy!
